Beth O'Donnell Young is the owner of Beth Young Garden Design, a residential landscape design firm in the Pacific Northwest. She teaches landscape design classes for horticulture students as well as homeowners.

In 2005 she created a class called "Naturescape Your Yard."  It was her personal response to Al Gore's call to action in An Inconvenient Truth (to do whatever one can to minimize our collective carbon footprint). The Naturescaping Workbook is based on that class.

Beth currently divides her time between Corvallis, Oregon and Siena, Italy.

(c) Karen Bussolini

Karen Bussolini has been the sole photographer for five books, the latest being The Homeowner's Complete Tree and Shrub Handbook (Storey Publications, 2007). She has contributed photographs to countless other books. Her photographs have appeared in most major gardening magazines and books published throughout the world, and she has written articles for many of these publications as well. She won Garden Writers Association awards for photography in 2001, 2004 and 2007.

Karen gives slide presentations around the country and has appeared on several PBS television programs.

Karen has been a gardener as long as she can remember. She trained as a painter and had a career as an architectural photographer before specializing in garden photography, writing and lecturing. Although she travels far and wide, her roots are sunk deeply into the soil of her mountainside home in Kent, Connecticut.
